The FDOT Safety Office wanted to create a way to engage young students in practicing safety in various environments in their lives (walking, riding bikes, crossing the street etc.) So, they tasked The OCM-Multimedia team with creating a superhero team (Guardians of Roadway Safety initiative) and pairing each hero with their own Comic, Action Card, promotional materials and animated PSA.
I worked on several of the projects under this umbrella which were a monthly reoccurrence as some heroes had coinciding awareness months they were paired with. We wrote the stories and illustrated the characters. Along with creating the settings and background characters I was lead on animating The Guardian, Ryder and Walker and Zom-B’s PSA. A couple of them are currently hosted on the MyFDOT’s YouTube page. Closed Captioning is also available through YouTube.
Some background elements were vector images licensed from Dreamstime. The music and transitions used were licensed from DigitalJuice as well as some FX sounds from Freesound.
