The Office of Traffic Engineering and Operations under FDOT needed an update to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies or MUTS, CBT. The Manual establishes minimum standards for conducting traffic engineering studies on roads. This CBT was unique in that the client wanted users to not be able to skip through the mandatory training, so I incorporated JavaScript that locked the play bar and provided them with the option to print their certificate once passing a quiz on the external website (The LMS provides the user with a certificate automatically and tracks their progress).
They provided basic PowerPoints which I used as an outline to develop the overall look and feel of the training, which includes multiple chapters or modules. I integrated audio (voice-over done by me) into each slide, included closed-captioning, animations, graphics, infographics using tools within Adobe Captivate etc. and handled the delivery and implementation onto FDOT’s external website and LMS. Resources as well as an alternate transcript for the training was provided. The CBT was checked and met 508 Compliance.
Images used were provided from several sources included Wikimedia Commons, FHWA and stock images licensed from Dreamstime. The music and video used on the Splash Screen (Welcome slide) was licensed from DigitalJuice.
